Elle King and Miranda Lambert – Drunk and I Don’t Want to Go Home

Elle King has a history with country music, scoring a hit with Dierks Bentley’s 2016 chart-topper “Different for Girls.” But her collaboration with Miranda Lambert on the raucous drinking song “Drunk and I Don’t Want to Go Home” has taken her career in a different direction.

1. “Ordinary World”

During the era of the post-punk explosion, dance and grunge music held the center of the cultural landscape and a lot of the world’s attention. Duran Duran, whose careers had been transformed from New Romantic titans to dance icons and musical magpies with a knack for absorbing different genres,

found themselves at a critical crossroads with 1992’s Ordinary World, the first single from their self-titled album (which is also referred to as The Wedding Album because it features wedding photos of the band members).

Written after lead singer Simon Le Bon’s friend Dave Miles died of a heroin overdose, the song resonated as a heartbreaking reminder that life isn’t meant to be easy and you have to take things day by day. Le Bon’s assured vocal is arguably the best of his career, and the track’s universal themes gave the band renewed critical momentum.

Miranda wrote this with Jack Ingram and Jon Randall, the guys who helped her write “Tin Man” and “Tequila Does,” for her album ’The Marfa Tapes.’ It was recorded in Marfa, Texas with just microphones and acoustic guitars, which makes it even more epic.
